Projector systems can deliver a dramatic viewing experience, but traditional models have installation requirements that don't work in every living room. Ultra short throw (UST) projectors, like this Epson LS800, make upgrading your movie nights a lot simpler.
You can place it on a low table almost directly under your screen — saving yourself the hassle of ceiling mounting and eliminating the need for long cable runs between the projector and your other gear. And the LS800 can get closer to the wall than most — it requires less than seven inches of clearance to fill a 120" screen.
The LS800's low-profile design will fit easily into your home's décor (available in black or white).
The LS800 uses a powerful 4,000-lumen laser light source and a trio of high-definition LCD imaging chips to deliver a bright, colorful picture even in rooms with some light. It also features Epson's 4K Enhancement Technology, which shifts each pixel diagonally by half a pixel and combines the two images to provide a sharper picture.
Most projectors include a tiny speaker (or no speaker at all) with the expectation that you'll be connecting your own separate sound system. The LS800, on the other hand, has a built-in 2.1-channel speaker system custom-designed by Yamaha for Epson. You can even connect to it via Bluetooth® and use it as a standalone speaker during your movie's intermission.
The LS800 includes the Android TV streaming platform, so you can access your favorite streaming services like YouTube and HBO without having to hook up a separate source. And you can even search using your voice thanks to the remote's built-in Google Assistant.
There are three HDMI inputs for connecting other gear, like a Blu-ray player or a laptop. And one input is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC) for added flexibility in connecting to a separate sound system. Two USB ports let you plug in a digital camera or thumb drive, while a third can power a streaming stick or other device. Want to connect headphones or external powered speakers? The LS800 has a 3.5mm stereo minijack output and an optical digital output.
