You simply cannot have distortion free audio playback without clean power. Sure, our analog equipment has exceptionally good power supplies which filter incoming AC effectively, but the performance improvement gained from providing your whole system with unimpeded clean power is remarkable.
Choose the BIT15 if you have small amplifiers (100W or less) or simply want to give your source components and preamplifier the cleanest power possible. The BIT20 adds extra power output handling and mechanical isolation of the transformer for even further reduced in-room noise.
Complete Power Isolation for AV Gear
Bryston's ten-outlet BIT 20 AVR is a full featured power isolation transformer that adds automatic voltage regulation thereby mitigating voltage sags, brownouts and power surges. Network connectivity and RS232 are also included, facilitating control and home monitoring. All ten of the Bryston's outlets are high current, making this an ideal unit for power amplifiers and other current hungry gear. It's perfect for large two-channel systems or demanding multi-channel and home theater components.
The BIT 20 AVR maintains output voltage within 115 to 125 Volts with an input of between 90 to 130V. Even when the AC line sags to between 85 and 90 volts or surges to between 130 and 135 volts, some regulation still exists! By using a microprocessor to monitor the incoming voltage, the BIT 20 AVR can seamlessly switch between taps on the transformer to maintain the correct output voltage. You can monitor the input and output voltages as well as output current and fault conditions from the front panel display.
All outlets use extra heavy duty medical grade outlets that are custom manufactured by Hubbell. These outlets provide greater contact force than conventional 'off-the-shelf' AC outlets, reduced heat build up and redundant grounding. They are vastly superior to traditional commercial grade outlets.
Internet Monitoring and Control
In addition to using the front panel display, you can monitor and control the BIT 20 AVR via the Internet. The Bryston is IP addressable with a built-in web browser interface. It offers password-protected control and will also provide automatic email notification on fault condition. The RS-232 control is compatible with Crestron and other control systems.
Noise Filtering and Series Mode Shunt Protection
All Bryston BIT products include NBT noise filtering, which reduces line distortion within isolation transformers by restricting electromagnetic energy to a very narrow passing frequency band.
Protect your expensive investment with Series Mode Surge Suppression. Most surge suppression circuits are shunt mode meaning that excessive voltage surges are shunted to ground which raises ground voltage and may contaminate audio and video signals. Bryston BIT SMSS absorbs surges that are as little as 2V above peak line voltage so that the ground is not affected. Bryston's surge suppression system is not MOV based. MOVs are sacrificial components that wear out over time eventually rendering typical surge protection systems useless.
Most power conditioning products actually limit current available to amplifiers and other electronics, but Bryston BIT units store energy in the magnetic field between transformer windings effectively reducing the impedance between connected equipment and the AC source.
Most AC mains circuits in homes have up to 1/2 ohm of impedance. By storing energy in the transformer, Bryston BIT products reduce the "seen" impedance of connected equipment by an order of magnitude, so dynamic range and clarity is dramatically improved.
Other Features
Fairly bristling with features, the BIT 20 AVR also includes a switch-on safety delay (5 seconds when power turned on or restored), Cloud-based monitoring and control through Ihiji and other systems, and a front panel display showing voltage conditions (input/output voltage), current draw, and IP address.
