Arcam components are known for their clear, spacious sound, and the company's new Radia series is generating quite an industry buzz. The A15 is the "middle child" of the Radia integrated amp lineup, but its performance is anything but middling. It's also got a solid build and luxurious new visual style, with an aluminum chassis and chunky aluminum dials ringed with eye-catching yellow.
Arcam chose to go with a Class AB amplifier circuit for the A15. It's a reliable, tried-and-true amplifier design used in many integrated amps, receivers, and other home audio gear. An 80-watt-per-channel rating means you'll have enough power to drive big floor-standing speakers to satisfying volume levels. Your digital sources also get audiophile-level treatment from the built-in ESS SABRE DAC.
The A15 gives you plenty of options for connecting music sources. There are multiple digital inputs, including Toslink optical and coaxial. Three line-level stereo RCA inputs are available for your analog audio components or a separate DAC. For vinyl enthusiasts, there's a moving magnet phono input.
The A15 has built-in Bluetooth with high-res aptX™ Adaptive technology for streaming music via online services from compatible devices. Two-way directionality allows you to stream from the amp to compatible headphones or powered speakers.
For robust Wi-Fi streaming, you can add Arcam's matching S5 network music player. Or use one of the digital connections to connect Arcam's matching CD player or your TV.
A stereo line-level preamp output lets you add a powered subwoofer or connect a separate amplifier.
