PrestigeTM 75F Floorstanding Speaker

Prestige 75F floorstanding speakers utilize 2.5-way crossover technology to greatly improve off-axis performance (for listeners not positioned directly in front of the sweet spot) and boost deep bass dynamics. This leap in acoustic performance is based in utilizing all three woofers at low frequencies, while the bass/midrange covers voice and musical instruments without the necessity of "crossing over" to the dedicated midrange.

The speakers of Canadian company Paradigm are consistently ranked “Product of the year”, “Best choice”, etc – and you already know why if you are a regular reader of this page. Let’s look at their Prestige series of speakers for example. This series includes three tower speakers (the 95F, 85F and 75F), two 3-way center speakers, a multi-directional surround, a compact bookshelf model and two powered subwoofers. All the speakers (except the subs) share similar driver technology and materials. So today, let’s look at the 75F:

Take it from insiders: The quality of the packaging often reflects the attention to detail and quality of the product itself – and Paradigm does a great job with the packaging and protection of its products: Right from unboxing those speakers, you get the feeling of sturdiness, premium quality and attention to detail.

The Paradigm Prestige 75F has a 2 ½-way design. This is worth noting because it allows Paradigm to use several woofers to create a large bass-radiating area but without the usual dispersion and interference that you usually have in speakers with several woofers working in parallel. And there are three of them in the 75F. Great job.

The tweeter is an aluminum driver with a cover with holes of different dimensions (“Perforated Phase-Aligning Tweeter Lens”). This allows to diffuse and mitigate the resonance peak that pretty much all metal-dome tweeters have. The result? The 75F has the speed and detail of a metal dome without the peaks and harshness of metal diaphragms. Great job here too.

We have listened to literally hundreds of speakers in our decades of collective experience, but the very first thing we all noticed when listening to the Prestige 75F is that they do not have the usual mid-range nasal tone of most speakers of this price. This absence of coloration alone puts it in the same class as much more expensive speakers.

When we listened to them, track after track whether with pop, jazz, classical or R&B, the Prestige 75F’s sound was detailed, lively and enjoyable. The bass was clean and well-defined, with a nice definition, and never too heavy. Overall the sound reproduction was full and deep, yet very delineated with a broad soundstage. They do not overload or distort. They just reproduce the sound in a precise and enjoyable way – as if the band is actually in the room. And if you like playing your music very loud, the 75F obliges very easily while still remaining very clear.

These are speakers you could enjoy every day with their solid mid-range, uniform bass, good imaging and detailed organic sound. Exceptional job all around. We have them in store right now so come by to listen to them and compare with other models for yourself – and if you are in the market, you are in luck: They  are on special this week, so don’t delay
